Seeing your citrus plant with yellowing leaves can be frustrating. In technical terms, it's often called chlorosis, but don't let the name scare you: in most cases, it's the plant's way of asking for help.

1. Iron Deficiency (Iron Chlorosis)
This is the number one cause. You recognize it because the leaf veins remain green, while the space between them turns pale yellow.

Why it happens: Often, there isn't a lack of iron in the soil, but the plant can't absorb it due to excessively hard water or soil with the wrong pH.

The remedy: Administer chelated iron. It's a "ready-to-use" form of iron that the plant absorbs quickly. In a few days, you'll see the intense green return.
2. Irrigation Errors (Too much or too little water)
If the leaves are yellow, limp, and fall off easily, you might be overdoing it with water, causing the beginning of root rot. If they are dry and curled, the plant is thirsty.

Why it happens: Citrus trees hate waterlogging. Stagnant water in the saucer "suffocates" the roots.

The remedy: Water only when the top 2-3 cm of soil are dry. Ensure the pot has excellent drainage (use expanded clay at the bottom).
3. Nitrogen or Magnesium Deficiency
If the yellowing is uniform across the entire leaf (nitrogen) or starts from the edges inwards (magnesium), the plant has depleted its "food reserves."

The remedy: Use a slow-release fertilizer specific for citrus or the classic ground lupins. Consistent nutrition is the secret to ever-bright leaves.
