Products and growing tips

1. How are the products packaged?

Our products are thoroughly watered before dispatch and packed with appropriate material that varies according to the type and quantity of plants chosen. We use cardboard boxes or wooden crates wrapped with protective film. Our plants can withstand being enclosed in their packaging for over 72 hours in case of courier delays. Winter temperatures allow us to ship throughout the week, while during the summer we do not ship beyond Wednesday. The possibility that our products may suffer damage during transport is extremely low and often not related to our work, but if the products arrive damaged, you just need to photograph everything upon receipt of the order and send the photos to info@vivaimiano.com. At this point, our staff, after careful evaluation, will guide you step by step through the possible refund procedure or shipment of new products.

2. Does the ordered plant have fruits and/or flowers?

Unless the presence of these characteristics is clearly stated in the product title and/or description, we cannot always guarantee the presence of fruit or flowers at the time of delivery. These characteristics, in addition to the age of the plant, depend on its flowering and fruiting season. Contact us at info@vivaimiano.com for further information.

3. When does the plant become productive?

Plants ordered from our website www.vivaimiano.com, if not already productive at the time of delivery, may become productive within one year of delivery. Contact us at info@vivaimiano.com for more information.

4. Is it possible to grow the ordered plant in a pot?

It is possible to grow all the plants available on our website in pots. If you do not need to plant the plant immediately upon delivery or transfer it to a larger pot, you can keep the ordered plant in the pot it was shipped in until the following spring. The recommended time for repotting the plant is near spring. We recommend always using soil specific to the type of plant purchased. Contact us at info@vivaimiano.com for more information.

5. When can I plant the ordered plant in the ground?

It is preferable to plant during the spring period as it coincides with the plants' vegetative growth. Since all our plants are already established, it is still possible to plant them throughout the year, by keeping the root ball intact and not removing soil from the roots. For areas with frosts, we recommend covering the plants with frost protection fabric for the first year.

6. How to grow the ordered Citrus plant?

Citrus plants are resistant to low temperatures, tolerating temperatures down to 0°C. During the winter seasons, we still recommend covering the plants with frost-protective fabric if they are exposed to excessively low temperatures or cold and icy winds. It is advisable to plant them in a location with good sun exposure, as they prefer bright and dry places. We reiterate that if there is no need to repot the plant upon delivery, it can be left in the pot in which it was shipped for approximately one year. A very important precaution is to plant the plant in the ground or in another pot with the root ball contained in the pot in which it was shipped. As mentioned, we recommend performing this operation preferably in early spring, but with the right precautions, it would be possible to do it throughout the year.

To properly care for the plants, we recommend treating them from April to September with regular fertilization every 20 days or so with a liquid fertilizer rich in trace elements. From October to March, use a slow-release fertilizer such as ground lupins or a water-soluble fertilizer. To prevent diseases to which citrus plants are susceptible, you can use linseed oil or an anti-scale insect insecticide. Furthermore, it is advisable to use a product that enhances natural defenses, also useful for preventing attacks by insects, fungi, bacteria, and viruses, protecting plants from the possible formation of mold or the entry of pathogens. It also promotes rapid healing of wounds caused by injuries, grafts, and/or pruning. During the winter, it would be sufficient to water every 3 days or so and every other day during warmer seasons. You will notice when the soil needs water. The important thing is never to leave the soil too dry or too wet. Pay attention to waterlogging as the plant could risk rotting. The ideal soil for citrus is specific soil.

7. Do the image and description reflect the product ordered?

The products visible on our website www.vivaimiano.com are represented by real images taken directly in our production nurseries. However, at the time of delivery, some characteristics may vary depending on the type of plant purchased.

  • Citrus plants, unless explicitly stated in the title and/or description of the product, may not have fruit and/or flowers as in the product image at the time of delivery, as, as already written, these characteristics depend on the age and flowering or production season of the plant.
  • Depending on the period, our products may not have the height indicated on the website, varying by approximately 10/20cm depending on the pruning period. Cultivation practices involve pruning plants at certain times of the year. This practice is necessary to promote the growth and vegetation of the plant, therefore, we want to reassure our customers by communicating that within a few weeks they will again have a vigorous canopy.

We have been working in this sector for several years, taking the utmost care of our plants. The main goal of Vivai Miano is to best satisfy the requests of our customers who daily show us their trust through the volume of orders we receive.

We carefully select our products before departure, making our knowledge available to our customers.
